NOTICE OF VACANCY Accessibility Specialist Classification: MnSCU Academic Professional 2 Unlimited, Full-Time Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM *A flexible work schedule may be approved with up to two days remote work per week (if applicable) Salary Range: Hourly from $25.67 to $37.26; Annually from $53,599 to $77,799 *Salary placement is dependent on education and experience This vacancy is posted on-line from Thursday, September 25, 2025 to Wednesday, October 8, 2025 until 11:59 PM. ABOUT THE POSITION The Accessibility Specialist formulates, implements, monitors, and evaluates appropriate services for students with disabilities who seek support through the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD). The position reviews disability documentation and works through the interactive process with the student to effectively implement disability law. The Accessibility Specialist develops, monitors, adjusts, and evaluates individual accommodation plans for students with disabilities. This involves meeting with individual students for the intake/interview process, reviewing and interpreting confidential psycho-education evaluations, assessing individual student needs on a case-by-case basis, and determining and providing disability accommodations to qualified students. The Accessibility Specialist assists students with disabilities who experience educational barriers by meeting to help develop skills related to organization and time management. This position is expected to stay up to date on industry trends to develop and improve training on time management skills and academic planning strategies. The individual in this role assists students with the acceptance, understanding, and management of their disability in a higher education setting. The Accessibility Specialist develops and maintains collegial relationships with Normandale faculty and staff for the benefit of students, and guides students with general college procedures. The Accessibility Specialist reports to the Director of the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD). This position will actively advance the college’s strategic goals, including to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts. YOUR QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIAL: These qualifications are required to move forward; as such, (ensure your application contains descriptions of your education and work experience sufficient to demonstrate competency in each of the following): Minimum of two (2) years of experience in providing service to students with disabilities at the post-secondary level. Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation, Student Personnel, Counseling, or a related field can substitute for 12 months experience. Experience with legal requirements of Americans with Disability Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Demonstrated skill in advocating for students with disabilities in an educational setting. Proven experience in managing difficult situations in disability services involving students, parents, staff, and faculty. Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience reviewing documentation of disabilities. Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service to students, families, staff, faculty and the community. PREFERRED: Masters' degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation, Student Personnel, Counseling, or a related field Five (5) years of experience in providing service to students with disabilities at the post-secondary level. Demonstrated knowledge of trends that support the development of inclusive education for students with disabilities. Knowledge of accessibility and web content. Ability to independently coordinate multiple tasks and respond to a wide range of situations in an organized manner. Possession of strong computer skills and familiarization with Microsoft office. Expertise with data bases and computer technology. Demonstrated excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills. Understanding of college policies and procedures to effectively make decisions to assist students with disabilities. Demonstrated experience with assistive technology and over-all computer use.
