With a 4-year graduation rate ranked 1 in New Jersey and 9 among U.S. public institutions, TCNJ is a model for public higher education. *Position Overview:*As a member of the Student Life team, the Associate Director serves as area lead for the Brower Student Center. This position reports to the Executive Director of Student Life. This position is responsible for staff supervision and development, daily management, and operation of a multipurpose student center. Major areas supervised include: Reservations, Service areas (Game Room, Information Desk and Digital Signage), event/space usage, general facility upkeep, general risk management, coordination of internal clients (College Depts housed in BSC, Student Org offices, Dining Services), building management staff, and student operations personnel. This position requires creativity, initiative, and follow through, while working collaboratively with others in the department, the Division of Student Affairs, and a variety of College departments and units. This individual is responsible for organizing and balancing multiple initiatives simultaneously, ensuring achievement of event and programming outcomes, and strategically advancing both the programmatic and physical development of the facility.*Responsibilities:* * *Leadership: *Provide innovative leadership and vision for the Brower Student Center (BSC) and BSC administered spaces (including Decker Rehearsal Space and the BSC LED Wall) demonstrating these facilities as a central focus in student life and an essential tool for broader campus initiatives that serve the diverse needs of the TCNJ population. Develop collaborative, measurable programs, procedures, policies, and services that support the strategic use of the BSC. Implement a balanced approach to space use, reservations, events, furniture, technology, and overall BSC environment that is students-first but also balanced to serve the needs of all BSC constituents. Prioritize multiple initiatives and strategically advance both the programmatic and physical development of the facility. Utilize assessments, feedback, and student input, when possible, to inform change. Collaborate with other functional area leads within the Office of Student Life to advance the larger vision of the Office of Student Life. * *Facilities Management:* Regularly design, deploy, adjust, and assess effective space use strategies both inside & outside of the BSC and Decker Rehearsal Space. Manage routine, emerging, and time-critical facilities needs. Develop and maintain a multi-year strategic facilities renewal plan and a multi-year strategic facilities enhancement plan with identified funding sources and lifecycle considerations. * *Supervision:* Supervise, evaluate, and develop the Office of Student Life Brower Student Center Team. Directly supervise the Assistant Director of the Brower Student Center and BSC Operations Manager and support their supervision of the Student Events Coordinator, Student Scheduler team, Building Managers, and Building Assistants. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and adherence to Student Union philosophy and strategies including outstanding customer service, strategic balance of internal and external client facility use, and standards of operation and facility status. Establish and implement on-call procedures for afterhours and weekend use. * *Budget: *Establish a yearly budget plan, as well as long term capital improvements utilizing reserve funding. Work with the Business Manager for Student Development to develop and manage the operating, programming, and capital improvement budgets for the BSC. Develop revenue generation strategies to support maintenance, repair, and replacement needs as well as facility enhancements. Regularly explore opportunities for revenue development to grow and support strategic facilities initiatives. Establish and update room, equipment rental, and digital signage rates and other general fees. Utilize assessment strategies, including student feedback, to prioritize budget priorities. * *Policy Development and Enforcement:* Develop, review, interpret, and update all policies and procedures for the Brower Student Center including the annual review and update of the BSC Handbook. Address concerns from students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and community members related to the BSC and the enforcement of its policies. Collaborate with members of the Office of Student Life to ensure cross-education, development, and enforcement of greater OSL policies. * *Assessment & Input: *Create and implement a longitudinal assessment plan that includes Benchworks (and other assessments), data analysis, and implementation plans to enhance services and facilities. Engage with students in regular and intentional ways to assess ideas, change, and facility use. Convene and lead the Student Government BSC committee to identify achievement of outcomes/goals, opportunities for change, and/or evolving student needs and interests. Utilize data received from CES and campus partners to review and adjust use for external clients and faculty and staff. Explore, assess, and deploy commuter-friendly resources within BSC. Collaborate with the Coordinator for Student Involvement to identify both met and unmet needs of commuter students at TCNJ. Identify ways in which BSC and other campus spaces and services can help support this population. * *Collaboration:* Establish and maintain good working relationships and collaborations with other college units, individuals, and external vendors including Facilities (Maintenance & Grounds, Building Services, Environmental Health & Safety, Sustainability & Energy Management, Planning, Design, Construction), Campus Police, Information Technology, Conference and Event Services, Center for the Arts, and Dining Services to ensure the building and its services support the needs of students and campus community. Develop and utilize working relationship and feedback opportunities with Conference and Events Services to ensure effective 3rd party utilization of the BSC and Decker Rehearsal Space. Implement, support, and provide critical feedback on the Co-Curricular and Leadership Development competency development model. Serve as the primary contact and decision maker for the Brower Student Center in the scheduling of projects, planned maintenance, and major repairs as well as emergency situations. *Qualifications:* *Required:* * Master’s degree in Higher Education, HRIM, or related field. * 3 years of full-time professional experience in Student Center Administration within a college setting. * Overall knowledge of Student Union administration. * Ability to build and lead a staff team; create a shared, organizational vision; and develop, measure, and achieve learning outcomes. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to communicate, implement, supervise, and lead. * Must be efficient in multitasking and able to train and develop professional and student staff within their areas of responsibility. * Demonstrated commitment to meet the evolving needs of diverse populations and to produce/maintain inclusive space, policies, & programming. *Preferred:* * 5 years of full-time professional experience in Student Center Administration within a college setting. * Experience with professional supervision. * Active involvement within ACUI or other Student Center focused organizations.
