Job Title: College Life Coach, Level I Location: Tallahassee, FL Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 61067 Department [Advising First ](https://advisingfirst.fsu.edu/) [College Life Coaching](https://advisingfirst.fsu.edu/college-life-coaching) Responsibilities * Responsible for building trusting relationships with assigned roster. Provide coaching services that are personalized, constructive, engaging, motivating, and informative. Prioritizes and executes appropriate coaching actions to remove roadblocks to students' success. Basic understanding of available technology that supports the college life coaching functions. Completes all corresponding administrative tasks associated with the position by the given deadlines. Responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation as it pertains to the goals of The Center for Collège Life Coaching. * Take a proactive approach to college life coaching by outreaching to assigned roster of students to invite them to engage in coaching, consistently outreaching to non-responding students, and sending meeting reminders. Responsible for seeking contact with students who are late to appointments and rescheduling as needed. * Participates in trainings necessary to perform duties of a college life coach. Continues to improve coaching skills by pinpointing key areas of growth and actively patriciates in professional development. * Participates in initiatives established by The Center for College Life Coaching, Advising First, and Undergraduate Studies. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.) Preferred Qualifications * Master's degree. * Knowledge of University rules and regulations. * Experience student advising, counseling, or experience working one-on-one with people in a professional or academic setting. * Creative problem-solving skills. * Prior student advising, counseling, or experience working one-on-one with people in a professional or academic setting. * Computer skills to include experience with Microsoft Office and web-based applications. * Ability to interpret and explain policies, procedures, goals, and objectives to students, parents, faculty, and staff. * Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously with minimal to moderate supervision. * Prior customer service experience and/or experience working with students in an educational setting. Ability to deal with people in a calm, confident manner and with complete objectivity. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, supervisors, and interdepartmental personnel. * Attention to detail with a high standard of integrity. Will have access to student data which is covered under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Position requires a high level of discretion and knowledge of legal issues in relation to confidentiality of data. * Ability to extract complex academic information from various sources and maintain confidentiality.
