Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060. Job Summary Manages the operations of college facilities. Responsible for ensuring that all laboratory operations are conducted with State-of-Practice safety precautions, compliant with EHSS standards, and personnel abide by safety procedures and protocols. Responsibilities *KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * 1. Oversees college facilities operations activities 2. Manages the college lab stockroom 3. Ensures laboratory safety training for faculty, staff and students in teaching, research, or laboratory support roles 4. Provides individual sessions as well as special topic training as needed 5. Serves as a liaison between Environmental Health and the college on issues of safety and environmental health processes 6. Serves as the lead crisis coordinator for the college and serves on the college safety committee 7. Serves as a liaison between facilities and the college on construction management, design, planning, renovations, repairs, and maintenance that directly college facilities or associated space 8. Serves as an advisor for faculty and even other colleges on multiple issues involving staffing, access, safety, autoclaving, construction and design, emergency management, inventory, purchasing, and training 9. On call 24/7 for emergencies that may occur in the laboratory buildings 10. Ensures full collaboration with all appropriate departments as needed (EHS, Facilities and KSU Public Safety) 11. Assists with instrument servicing and management that involves structural or changes in utilities such as power, water, etc. 12. Manages the operational actions with the water filtration systems, lab coats, and other vendors. Assists in contract negotiations and evaluation of services 13. Manages the college laboratory asset inventory including annual inventory audit and surplus management 14. Manages laboratory access database Required Qualifications *Educational Requirements* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education *Other Required Qualifications* Current, valid and unrestricted driver's license *Required Experience* Seven (7) years of related work experience including supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications *Additional Preferred Qualifications* Safety certifications (CHO, CSP, CHMM or other safety certifications) *Preferred Educational Qualifications* An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities *ABILITIES* Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines *KNOWLEDGE* Knowledge of safety applications Understanding of Personnel management Understanding laboratory building mechanical functions Understanding of the use of laboratory equipment and operations Extensive knowledge of laboratory safety Understanding emergency management operations *SKILLS* Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite) Strong attention to detail and follow up skills Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette USG Core Values The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
