*Job Description Summary*The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo, a unique 10-acre Zoo, is the only Zoo on a college campus accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The SF Teaching Zoo is home to over 70 different species of animals and is maintained by students, faculty, and staff year-round. The educational aide for the Zoo’s guest services will provide a professional, helpful, and welcoming environment for all Zoo guests. The aide will assist in the gift shop, at the ticket window, and with events while providing exemplary customer service.Job DescriptionResponsibilities and Duties Include:* * Provides a professional, helpful, and welcoming atmosphere by greeting, responding to, and directing visitors at the gift shop, ticket window, and at events. * Answers phones and provides appropriate information and referrals regarding the Teaching Zoo. * Organizes and inventories merchandise and ensures the gift shop is properly stocked and priced. * Monitors inventory levels and alerts supervisor when quantities fall under established thresholds. * Assists with researching new merchandise options for the gift shop. * Processes ticket sales, merchandise sales, membership sales, public experiences, and donations via point of sale and credit card systems. * Demonstrates an understanding of the Teaching Zoo, public program opportunities, and the Zoo Animal Technology program. * Supports special events. * Fills in for guest experience vacancies as needed. * Strictly honors the privacy and security of records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies, and procedures. * Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality. * Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement. * Performs other duties as assigned. *QUALIFICATIONS* *Required: *Must be a currently enrolled Santa Fe College student, in good academic standing, taking six (6) or more credit hours. *Additional Requirements: *A criminal background check will be conducted. Must maintain a 2.5 GPA.
