Perform on and off campus residential, office furniture, and/or equipment moves. Set up and break down for special events and functions. Assist various trades in repairs. Perform pressure washing. Clean mechanical spaces and perform other duties as assigned. *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position:* * Under minimal supervision, must be able to understand and work safely around moderately complex carpentry, plumbing and electrical work sites * Skilled in the use of hand and power tools * Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions * Ability to resolve most routine questions and problems * Ability to prioritize work orders * Ability to know when to refer questions and problems to supervisor * Ability to issue written and/or oral instructions * Knowledge of moving practices and ability to set up for special events * Knowledge of making building maintenance repairs * Ability to use a pressure washer * Ability to operate a forklift * Ability to work weekends and after-hours for events (e.g. football games, etc.) and event preparations *Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :Education Required:* * High school diploma or equivalent * Valid driver’s license *Experience Required:* * Experience in making simple building repairs * Experience working from heights using various equipment such as lifts, ladders and/or scaffolding * Experience with lifting heaving objects and/or knowledge of OSHA lifting guidelines *Additional Consideration(s):Education Preferred:* * Lift Certification, Forklift Operator License *Experience Preferred:* * Experience working at a college or university * Experience moving furniture and equipment * Experience assisting with setting up special events to include setting up tents * Experience in the use of 80’ boom lift * Experience with pressure washing * Experience in scheduling and assigning work * Experience with purchasing * Experience with conducting fire extinguisher monthly checks *Salary Information:*Starting at $34,277, Commensurate with Education and Experience. *CNU Information:*This position includes Commonwealth of Virginia and Christopher Newport University employee benefits.
