Job Summary Assists in performing a variety of professional and technical functions for a multi-science instructional laboratory program. Maintains laboratory facilities in assigned college, department or unit and facilitate the operation of departmental labs. Oversees maintenance and repair of lab equipment and assist with lab requirements for projects. Responsible for the setup and breakdown of labs and maintaining lab supplies and equipment inventories. Ensures compliance with all lab regulations and develop and update lab preparation guides. Responsibilities *KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * 1. Assists in performing a variety of professional and technical functions for a multi-science instructional laboratory program or a research laboratory operation 2. Maintains laboratory facilities and may supervise other laboratory staff such as laboratory assistants, as assigned 3. Purchases laboratory supplies and equipment, as assigned 4. Maintains instructional laboratory stock 5. Ensures supplies are available as required for lab sessions 6. Prepares reagents, solutions and/or chemicals needed for lab classes offered in biology and/or chemistry instructional labs 7. Serves as Laboratory Compliance Officer, ensuring all chemicals are appropriately labeled and inventory and storage location reports are updated 8. Assists Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) in maintaining current Safety Data Sheets (SDS) records and ensures availability to students, faculty, staff, and others as required by the University 9. Manages hazardous waste collection and disposal for assigned areas in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements 10. Provides setup and materials for lab sessions in a timely manner, ensuring faculty requested materials and equipment are available in labs prior to start of lab sessions 11. Places orders for reagents, supplies, and equipment facilitating invoicing process and maintaining laboratory purchase records 12. Assists in development and implementation of safety policies and procedures 13. Facilitates installation and maintenance of equipment including preventative maintenance, service contracts, and repairs in compliance with federal regulations 14. Communicates regularly with faculty and department leadership Required Qualifications *Educational Requirements* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a life sciences field, (i.e., Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry as related to the assigned laboratory) *Required Experience* One (1) year relevant experience Preferred Qualifications *Preferred Educational Qualifications* An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field *Preferred Experience* Teaching experience at an institution of higher education Proposed Salary The budgeted salary range is $45,900 to $49.816 annually.
