Job Description


Job Title: Lead Line Cook

Reports To: General Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Summary: Prepares food orders for the restaurant and assures the smooth operation of the kitchen by performing the following duties.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Completes opening and closing duties in accordance with approved procedures.*
  2. Prepares all food items prior to and during meal time periods according to written food orders.*
  3. Prepares, slices and chops meat, cheese and other food products.*
  4. Safely uses preparatory utensils such as knives, pans and slicers on a regular basis.*
  5. Safely uses deep fryer, electric choppers, steamers, and other kitchen equipment.*
  6. Communicates with servers in a professional manner regarding customer orders.*
  7. Orders all essential food and other related items for the operational flow of the restaurant as needed.*
  8. Puts away deliveries from truck and places in appropriate storage areas by lifting and carrying to food preparation area.*
  9. Follows portion and quality control standards of the menu.*
  10. Ensures all leftover/unused food products are stored/restocked or disposed of properly.*
  11. Maintains a neat and orderly work area at all times.*
  12. Examines, labels and stores incoming food supplies in storage and refrigeration areas appropriately.*
  13. Consistently ensures kitchen appliances and equipment have been cleaned and turned off at the end of each work day.*
  14. Maintains work areas in a sanitized and orderly manner in compliance with state health and safety regulations.*
  15. Observes food product inventory and notifies management of any shortages.*Assists with training of new employees as needed.*
  16. Assists with washing dishes on an as needed basis.*
  17. Communicates all concerns to management including health, safety, sanitation, staff, inventory and customers.*
  18. Ability to maintain flexibility to work extended hours, as needed*
  19. Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Language Ability:

Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple instructions.


Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


Education/Experience:

Six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Certificates and Licenses:

Food Handlers Permit
