Position OverviewThe Student Engagement Center at the University of Kansas serves as a hub for student involvement, leadership development, impact programs and resources, and community programs. Through the Student Engagement Center, KU students deepen their connection to each other and KU by exploring communities and opportunities to thrive during their Jayhawk experience. Students will engage through registered student organizations, leadership experiences, and professional development workshops. The Center will impact students by providing for direct needs in the Campus Cupboard, Pregnant and Parenting Pantry, clothing closets, and the Emergency Aid Network. Jayhawks will build community as they connect with peers and engage in student support programs. The Student Engagement Center enhances existing programs by providing greater resources and deeper connections across Student Affairs.Student Organization Assistance for the Student Engagement Center are responsible for strengthening the KU student experience through supporting registered student organizations at the University of Kansas. Job Description*50% Student Organization Assistance* Keep track of storage space application and renewals for student organizations.Management of physical flyers and promotional materials submitted by student organizations to be advertised in the Student Engagement Center.Monitor bulletin boards and building display locations to ensure materials posed are in accordance with Student Engagement Center guidelines. Assist student organizations with event/meeting set-up and take-down, including technology support. Manage data entry associated with student organizations. * 30% Student Outreach & Engagement * Serve as ambassador for the Student Engagement Center during Involvement Fairs, campus events and classroom visits by providing an overview of the office’s programs and services to students, staff, faculty and affiliates. Provide tours of the Student Engagement Center during visit days to prospective students and their families. Manage and track attendance to Student Engagement Center events. * 15% Administration* Completing administrative duties this includes but is not limited to overseeing the SMRC and Suite 400 front desk, answering routine questions, maintaining the building space, and completing tasks requested by the SEC staff. Assisting in the creation of marketing materials including brochures and flyers regarding the office’s programs and services. *5% Other Duties as Assigned* Required Qualifications * Must have some weekday availability. Monday through Thursday between the hours of 9 - 8pm and Friday between 9 - 4pm. Prior experience in office and/or customer service settings. Strong written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by application materials and interview process. Must work on-site. Preferred Qualifications * Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Canva. Experience using social media for professional settings. Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments). Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are *not* eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR. (2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position.
