This position plays a crucial role in the management of data collection that supports many programs across the state. You will work alongside the rest of the BRFSS team to lead and support quality control throughout the phone-based survey experience. This position offers hands-on experience in research protocol, recruitment and retention of temporary employee staff, and program organization. This role is ideal for individuals interested in research and data collection and advancing supervision skills in a public health setting. This is full-time, in-person position, with flexible hours over the course of entire week, Sunday through Saturday. Supervision. Perform staff support activities related to human resource management for the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Survey Program. This includes serving as lead worker to entry level survey supervisors and approximately 40 telephone interviewers and 2-3 lead interviewers hired through temporary employment agencies. Recruit, train, plan and organize work schedules for interviewers according to CDC protocols. Provide orientation, written and verbal performance evaluations for interviewers. Work with Program Director, BRFSS Coordinator, other Survey Supervisors to implement a process for terminating interviewers on site or by working through temp agencies. Approve payroll and submit to temp agencies in a timely manner. Ensure other documentation is in place per protocols by deadlines. Monitor hiring and retention trends and develop proactive strategies to maintain high levels of active interviewers. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: The position is responsible for the recruitment and retention, supervision, evaluation, and organization of 40 Temporary Employee Interview Call Center. This individual will train and manage quality control protocols for daily and long-term data collection operations. They will interpret and ensure adherence of guidelines established by the CDC or special survey sponsors. An ideal candidate will be able to maintain positive relationships with temporary agencies and interview staff and promote positive communication within the Bureau of Health Promotions. This candidate will be responsible for organization and quality assurance of the data collected. The position works in partnership with additional supervisor staff to balance out the full interview work week. This can include days, nights and weekend shifts Sunday through Saturday. A successful candidate will promote a positive, teamwork environment and leadership structure for the temporary employee team, modeling the core values of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Quality control. Maintain an interviewer quality assurance process by administering procedures for daily and long-term survey data collection operations. This includes checking interviewer calling procedures and data entry processes using WinCATI. Execute data quality control procedures through routine monitoring; work with BRFSS team to address identified issues; update training curriculum as needed. Maintain required documentation for quality improvement and funder reports. Work with BRFSS team to achieve maximum efficiency in data collection using quality improvement processes. Acquire training in data collection and supervision methods by attending CDC BRFSS trainings and applying new knowledge and skills to make program improvements. Qualifications * Education: * High School, GED * Licensing & Certification: * Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State. * Minimum Qualifications: * One to two years' experience in customer service, call center or supervision.
