Are you a self-driven, process-oriented Applications Engineer with hands-on experience in building and refining Bills of Materials (BOM)? We’re seeking a talented engineer near Linden, NJ, offering a starting salary between $80K- $100K. This role is part of an exciting initiative to enhance quoting accuracy, streamline manufacturing workflows, and elevate our engineering capabilities. What you will do: Review customer prints and RFQs to assess manufacturability and develop cost estimates. Create and maintain accurate single- and multi-level BOMs. Develop pricing outlines, including material, labor, and outsourced costs; flag risks or uncertainties. Participate in Contract Review Team meetings to evaluate job feasibility. Define technical specs and process steps for first-time jobs. Mentor and support BOM writers and junior application engineers. Collaborate with quoting, engineering, quality, and customer service teams to complete accurate quotes. Recommend updates to routers and pricing based on changes in product scope or cost drivers. Assist in improving workflow and cost efficiency through lean and process improvement efforts. Update and maintain historical quote data for accuracy and profitability. Communicate technical details clearly to internal teams. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field (preferred) Experience in a manufacturing environment—preferably aerospace, automotive, or pharma Comfortable working independently and taking initiative without heavy oversight Strong understanding of BOM structure, manufacturing processes, and quoting logic ERP experience a plus Process creation and documentation skills are a must Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma is beneficial Benefits: Growth opportunities into supervision or advanced engineering positions as the department expands.
