Job Title : Traveling Superintendent - Commercial Construction Projects Location : Greensboro, NC (Our projects are located in NC, the SE U.S. and Mid-Atlantic) Company Details Mid Size Commercial Construction Company building new and renovation projects like retail, k-12, municipal, restaurants, banks, offices, and more. 8 years average employee tenure If you travel for us, we offer short and/or long-term per diem and set up our superintendents to come home every 1-3 weeks at your request. Included is a company vehicle or allowance and gas card among others. We are a well established full service commercial construction general contractor based in Greensboro NC, servicing new and repeat clients in NC, the South East US and up into the Mid Atlantic. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Traveling Superintendent to join our team and help lead our growing portfolio of commercial construction projects across the United States. Position Overview The Traveling Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of commercial construction projects either locally or requiring travel. This key leadership role requires a strong background in construction management, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage teams and resources effectively to ensure project success. The Superintendent will be expected to travel frequently to different project sites and work closely with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Project Oversight: Lead day-to-day operations on multiple commercial construction sites, ensuring the project progresses according to schedule, budget, and scope. Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and coordinate activities of subcontractors, tradespeople, and other on-site personnel. Quality Control: Maintain strict quality standards to ensure work meets both company and regulatory specifications. Safety Management: Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, conducting regular site safety inspections. Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project timelines, proactively addressing potential delays or obstacles and implementing corrective actions. Cost Control: Monitor and track project costs, ensuring the project stays within budget, and assisting in cost-saving initiatives where applicable. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to communicate progress and resolve any on-site issues. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, safety reports, and progress reports for internal and client use. Travel Flexibility: Travel to various job sites as needed (approximately 80% of the time), with occasional overnight stays. Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent or in a similar leadership role in commercial construction, with a focus on managing large-scale projects. Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience. Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction processes, project scheduling, contract documents, and safety regulations (OSHA certifications a plus). Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification (required); PMP or LEED certification a plus. Travel Requirements: Must be willing and able to travel frequently and work on-site at different locations across the United States. Technology: Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
